Dynamic Positioning

Dynamic Positioning

LOC is specialised in the assessment of all kinds of DP vessels with DP notations DP-1, DP-2 and DP-3. We have a track record of conducting work in accordance to IMO (International Maritime Organisation), Class Rules, IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) and MTS (Marine Technology Society) requirements and guidance.

With an active DP steering group led by its Group Technical Authority, we set our internal standard, assessment, training and qualification requirements across the Group. It establishes up to date templates that comply with the latest classification society rules and industry guidance. Our DP service line is integrated with a monitoring and control process to ensure that quality of our products is always maintained to the highest industry standard.

The use of dynamic positioned (DP) vessels has increased significantly over recent years. These specialised vessels are often required for many different environment areas and operational conditions. These include medium to deep water drilling, accommodation, construction and removal operations, wind farm installations, subsea activities (divers and ROV operations), pipe and cable-lay operations, shuttle tankers, automated thruster assisted moorings and weather-vane operations.
