LOC’s technical experts have attended major pollution incidents, and have also provided marine pollution prevention advice to a range of clients. Marine pollution is a frequent result of groundings, strandings or offshore casualties and can be caused by hydrocarbon, chemical and dry cargo spillages. The variety and uniqueness of pollution locations is a significant factor in the response strategy and execution.

We provide support to our clients with oil removal from casualties – submerged or stranded, assessments of proposed pollutant recovery, pollution prevention methods following a casualty, marine pollution clean-up methods and claims handling and review. We have experience of assisting clients in a range of locations, from small lock basins to fast flowing rivers.

In addition to casualty response, we have provided independent assessment of deep-water oil drilling plans to coastal states ranging from local legislation characteristics to liaison with shore response volunteer exercises.
