Sen joined LOC in 2015 as LOC Group Technical Authority for DP Services and is based in Aberdeen.
Sen has 32 years’ experience in the marine and offshore industry and his responsibilities include the technical wellbeing of DP and related work around the LOC Group.
Prior to joining LOC, Sen previously managed a team completing DP-2 and DP-3 FMEAs, including the updating of previously issued documents, and gap analysis of DP3 and DP2 vessels. He has experience of FMEAs which have closed bus configuration, requiring advanced generator protection. He has analysed the failure modes of the first drill ship to be equipped with DC drilling switchboards supported by energy storage devices such as super capacitors and batteries, together with investigating failure of power systems, VFDs and steering systems and has represented owners.
Sen is at the final phase of writing a PhD thesis at University College London, researching harmonic mitigation methods and hybrid DC distribution systems suitable for DP related marine and offshore applications.
He is a professional review interviewer of IMarEST for chartered engineer status with the Engineering Council of the United Kingdom.
