Peter joined LOC’s Middle East office in 1994, becoming General Manager, Middle East, in 2000, before transferring to the UK and becoming Managing Director of LOC London in 2002. In 2007 he became the Group’s Regional Director for Europe & Africa, stepping down from this role in 2015.
Prior to joining LOC, he had spent 25 years at sea, 17 of them in command.
He specialises in shipping casualties and has attended on a number of significant and high profile incidents involving salvage and oil, cargo and wreck removal.
He has prepared reports for, and appeared as expert witness in Courts in London, Mumbai, Aix en Provence, Jersey, Eire, New York, Oslo, The Netherlands, and Newcastle and in a number of arbitrations, in a wide variety of cases.
He has investigated and reported on Charter Party, Wreck Removal, Salvage and Towage disputes, which have included seismic streamer damage, unsafe port investigations, pollution incidents, salvage, groundings, explosions, collisions, tanker break-away incidents, and personal injury incidents.
He has extensive pollution related experience includes oil spill response, shore line clean-up and restitution, oil recovery from deeply submerged vessels, pollution damage assessment, claim presentation and claims review, acting on behalf of the IOPC Funds, ITOPF and P&I clubs and working closely with national and international authorities.
