Monir joined LOC in 2006 as a Marine Engineer based in New York. He specialises in engineering casualties and claims, crane damages, hull and machinery damage/claims, off-specification bunker disputes, ship building and re-delivery disputes and technical risk assessment of shipping and offshore assets. Monir has provided expert reports/opinion for arbitrations.
He is an accredited OVID and CMID inspector and has conducted surveys on various types of vessels for P&I Clubs, owners and offshore interests.
Monir has undertaken numerous shipyard surveys (JH143) and has provided marine warranty surveying for loadouts, sailaway and approving module installations offshore.
He is a Chief Engineer (Class 1) with 14 years sea-going experience on general cargo vessels, container ships, and chemical and product tankers trading worldwide, including five years sailing as chief engineer on chemical tankers.
Monir has experience of ship management being the technical superintendent in charge of taking delivery of new-builds from Japanese shipyards. Consequently, he has specific experience of stainless steel repair and acceptance trials.
Monir is fluent in English and Bengali.
