Mei Kun joined LOC in 2009 as a Class 1 Master Mariner based in Shanghai. Mei Kun has provided marine warranty surveying (MWS) activities including reviewing, approving and attending float-on operations, load outs, sea fastening, sail away and towing operations, transportation and installation of offshore structures including jackets, topside modules of drilling rig and floating production storage and offloading (FPSO). He has participated in many offshore marine warranty projects such as docking and undocking, towage, navigation, DP system installation and sea trial of drilling rigs and FPSOs. Mei Kun has conducted various type inspections and surveys of various vessel types and is an accredited OVID inspector. He has participated in investigates and attendances for container damages, cargo damages, grounding, loading disputes, collision investigation and damage repairs. Prior to LOC Mei Kun gained over 20 years’ experience at sea on bulk carriers, container vessels, and RO/RO vessels including seven years in command trading globally. Through this work Mei Kun gained extensive knowledge in all technical aspects of ship operations, in particular cargo handling. He also has experience in standing by a new-build in Germany, undertaking sea trials, inspections, implementing management systems and taking command. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.
