John joined LOC in 2011, and is an Associate Marine Engineer based in London.
John’s career began as an apprentice with ICI Plc in the highly regulated petrochemical industry.
After ten years he converted his shore based engineering to the maritime industry, going to sea with SSTG in near coastal vessels and then deep sea in various vessels including bulkers, reefers, tankers, containers and, for the last 14 years, cruise ships.
John has extensive experience of propulsion systems including direct reversing 2 stroke, medium speed / gearbox / CPP / Azipod, diesel / electric, gas turbine / electric and major refitting/dry-docking of cruise vessels.
During this time, John progressed through the Certificates of Competency to attain Chief Engineer Class 1 motor.
Since joining LOC, John has been involved in main and auxiliary machinery damage surveys, bunker quality disputes and hull damage.
From 2012 until 2014 John was involved in a recent major wreck removal operation of a passenger ship in Italy as company representative and special representative developing bespoke applications for cost tracking and revenue recovery.
