Diego has many years’ sea going and port operations experience with a variety of ship types including bulk carriers and containers ships.
He has acted as Marine Warranty Surveyor for the shipment of two French mine hunters on board a heavy lift vessel using ship’s cranes operating in tandem.
He has shore based experience as Marine Terminal Operator for containerised cargo.
He has previous experience as a consultant working with P&I clubs and law firms, providing advice on navigation and VDR assessment, stowage and lashing of cargo, speed and consumption, hold cleaning, cargo liquefaction, water ingress and bulk cargo related disputes. As an independent marine consultant, he provided advice on the loading & unloading of large project cargo.
During his seagoing career he served on panamax and handy size bulk carriers as Chief Mate and Master, and on container vessels of 4000/5000 teu capacity and heavy lift/project cargo carriers as Chief Mate, attending several class renewal dry docks and vessel’s delivery.
In addition, as a junior officer he sailed on chemical tankers, oceanographic vessels and passenger ships.
