Has experience of performing mooring, riser and 3D diffraction analyses using industry standard software including ROMEO, Flexcom, Orcaflex, AQWA and MOSES.
Alastair has acted as Marine Warranty Surveyor for vessel suitability surveys and attendances, as well as conducting document reviews. He has a particular interest in cable lay and mooring analyses. Alastair has GWO working at height, GWO first aid, BOSIET and MIST allowing him to travel offshore in both the renewable and oil and gas industries. Alastair has a BEng in Marine Technology with Honours in offshore engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Alastair joined Longitude Topsham, a sister company of LOC, in 2012 and transferred to LOC London in 2015. Alastair is a naval architect with seagoing experience on board oil and product tankers and LNG carriers, where he gained a second engineer’s certificate of competency in steam ships. Alastair has worked in the offshore sector in Aberdeen as a surveyor in integrity services and as a naval architect performing mooring, riser and 3D diffraction analyses using industry standard software including ROMEO, Flexcom, Orcaflex, AQWA and MOSES. This knowledge was built upon with mooring analyses and cable lay analyses for the renewables industry.
