Support AqualisBraemar LOC in Racing the Thames!

AqualisBraemar LOC group companies in the UK are joining ranks this March to take on the ultimate Thames fitness challenge….Race the Thames 2021!

From the 22nd to 29th March, 6 teams of 8 will each complete the length of the Tidal Thames, 72k, running, jogging, walking, or even cycling.

The event supported by British rower and triple Olympic gold medallist, Andrew Triggs-Hodge, is a fantastic challenge to fulfil those long-forgotten new year’s resolutions, get motivated as a team, whether remotely or socially distanced, but most importantly, to get active in support of two of our chosen causes.

We are pleased to announce that our teams have chosen to complete the challenge in support of two wonderful charities, the London Youth Rowing and The Mission to Seafarers:

LYR is committed to improving the physical, social and mental wellbeing of disadvantaged young people across London, by opening up access to rowing and the many benefits this water sport can offer.

Via rowing, LYR seeks to help young people develop crucial life skills, necessary for success in the classroom and workplace, enable young people to participate in this unique and traditional sport, and nurture a determination and success in a new generation of rowers.

Andy Triggs-Hodge, triple Olympic gold medallist and Great British rower, comments:

“Teamwork makes the dream work – There’s lots of people in need of some team spirit right now, so take part together to bust the winter lockdown, and support the fantastic work LYR do with young people in London”

Day and night, The Mission to Seafarers is on call for seafarers in over 200 ports around the world. With over 90% of world trade carried by sea, providing work to 1.5 million seafarers, we offer much needed practical, emotional and spiritual support through ship-visits, our seafarers’ centres and a range of welfare and emergency support services. All of which is made possible by through our global network of chaplains, staff and volunteers.

The Revd. Canon Andrew Wright, Secretary General of The Mission to Seafarers, comments:

I was excited to hear about the excellent Thames challenge being undertaken by AqualisBraemar LOC. It comes at an important moment in the life of your new company, and also at a critical moment for seafarers. Their work through the pandemic has been heroic, and the challenges they have faced enormous. Our work at The Mission to Seafarers has rarely been more important and your support will play a vital part in our ability to sustain that work. I wish you every success with the challenge. Have fun!”

Please sponsor us as we complete 432km between 48 people, and support these two charities, whose work today is more important than ever, in supporting the physical and mental health of young people and seafarers respectively.
