Our dear friend and colleague Paul Whyte

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and colleague Paul Whyte passed away Tuesday 19 November 2019.

Paul joined LOC in 2012 and quickly established himself as our expert in navigation, applying his knowledge and skill in the analysis of maritime casualties and incidents.  He was instrumental in helping develop our use of specialist analysis software specifically designed by the UK Maritime Accident Investigation Bureau and the US National Transportation Safety Board for such work.  His skills were universally recognised and he became a Fellow of The Nautical Institute.  He was co-author of the 2015 Nautical Institute book, “Accidents and Their Causes” and the UK Maritime Coastguard Agency 2016 Review, “Assessment of ETV Provision for North and North-West Scotland”.  He was a frequent contributor of articles for online magazines and the Nautical Institute magazine, “Seaways”.  With his specialist navigation background Paul represented LOC as a speaker at many navigation focused seminars and conferences. Paul will be greatly missed by all at LOC.
