Longitude named as Technical Specialist in support of Trinity House Vessel Replacement Programme

Longitude, an LOC Group Company, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the contract for the Trinity House Vessel Replacement Project Technical Specialist. The agreement will see Longitude work on the requirements definition and tender specification for Trinity House’s new buoy maintenance vessel. Support will then continue through the procurement and build phases of the contract, with the end goal of delivering a vessel to replace THV Patricia.

Longitude will provide a conceptual design of the vessel to Trinity House, to facilitate an in-depth analysis of the vessel’s requirements, and look into incorporating new available technologies, including hybrid systems. Once the upfront design phase is complete, Longitude will work alongside the chosen shipyard to ensure that the design and build phases are successfully executed and that the end product is in accordance with Trinity House’s requirements.

Jake Anderson, Group Director of Longitude, commented:

We are very pleased to be working with Trinity House on this high profile project to deliver a new ship for their fleet. As 90% of the goods consumed in the UK arrive by sea, the need for safe navigation is critical and we will bring together our expertise in the design and operation of offshore ships, with our experience in specification-driven projects to deliver Trinity House with the ship they need to provide this service. The tender process was highly competitive and we are delighted to have been awarded this important contract for LOC Group.”

Dean Goves, Managing Director of Longitude Southampton, commented:

“The Trinity House vessel replacement project is a perfect fit for the Group, as we can make the most of our cross-discipline team, from the mariners in the LOC Shipping team to the designers and engineers in Longitude. We look forward to ensuring the new ship incorporates the latest technology to maximise safe operations, whilst also minimising its environmental impact.”
