LOC launch Ship and Ship Repair Familiarisation Training

LOC in collaboration with Drydocks World, Dubai, the international service provider to the shipping, offshore, oil, gas and energy sectors have launched a new training course for professionals working in the maritime industry in Dubai and the wider Middle East.

The Ship and Ship Repair Facility Familiarisation Training Course, has been developed to give a valuable first-hand knowledge of different aspects of the industry, including a practical understanding of deep sea and offshore units, ship repair facilities and port operations.

The first course which runs in March, will be open to professionals who have no direct experience of ships or ship repair facilities, but have indirect dealings with these important facilities through their job roles.

The new Ship and Ship Repair Familiarization Training Course is two and half days of practical experience structured around presentations by experienced mariners, engineers, surveyors and ship repair experts.  The course will include tours of ships, oil rigs, working ports and the largest ship repair facility in the Middle East.

Andrew Squire, Chief Executive, LOC says;

‘LOC has developed a strong reputation and large client base throughout the UAE and MENA region, since its establishment in 1991 in Dubai.

‘Increasingly our clients are asked about the possibility of providing their staff with practical experience of visiting working vessels, but unfortunately as port facilities are highly sensitive, secure areas, this is not easily arranged.

‘However, based on our excellent working relationship with Drydocks World, spanning nearly 25 years, we approached the company and asked for their help.

‘The scale of Drydocks World’s repair facilities, which are the largest in the Middle East, and the different types of ships undergoing conversion and repair along with the highly specialised new builds will provide the course delegates with a fascinating, diverse experience that will benefit their career professional development.

‘We thank Drydocks World for their support, and believe that this will be an essential course for all professionals in the region wanting to develop their maritime knowledge and demonstrate their commitment to CPD and to increasing their professional knowledge.’

The first Ship and Ship Repair Facility Familiarisation Training Course will take place on 21 March 2016, to register your interest in this or future courses please email jamie.simpson@loc-group.com.

The course attendees may work for insurance brokers, marine underwriters, P&I Clubs, vessel charterers and brokers, port authorities and terminal operators, reinsurers, banks and financial institutions, cargo freight forwarders and cargo owners, ship owners and managers, maritime lawyers and law firm employees, marine surveyors and journalists.
