LOC Canada strengthens its Hull & Machinery offering with appointment of Frans Schouffoer

LOC Group, the leading international engineering and marine consultancy, is pleased to announce the appointment of Frans Schouffoer, as Senior Marine Surveyor.

Frans, who is based in LOC’s Halifax office in Nova Scotia, is a marine engineer surveyor, with extensive seafaring experience, including as a former-dual officer, First Engineer and Chief Officer. Frans joins LOC Canada from Hayes Stuart Inc and has previously held senior posts at Maersk Ship Management MSM and P&O Nedlloyd PONL.

As a marine engineering surveyor Frans has undertaken investigations into hull and machinery damage and claims, machinery fault and failure, cargo damage claims, and contamination claims. He has been appointed by Underwriters to act on their behalf on Hull and Machinery (H&M) and Protection and Indemnity (P&I) incident investigations.

Throughout his career he has worked with a variety of vessels including UCC container vessels, Ro-Ro’s, general cargo, product tankers, cruise vessels and own-geared container vessels.

Frans will be driving the expansion of our expertise and service offering in Hull & Machinery, P&I and cargo ships surveying, inspections and casualty investigations.

As well as our Halifax office, LOC Canada also benefits from its extended network of specialist marine and engineering consultants in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Alberta and British Columbia, enabling us to support shipping and offshore energy clients across Canada.

R.V Ahilan, CEO of LOC Group, commented:

“We are delighted to welcome Frans to LOC. He is an excellent addition to our team and is the latest in a series of important hires as we look to consolidate our position in the Canadian market. Frans’ specialism in H&M complements our existing capabilities in Canada, as well as expands our footprint on the east coast.”
