LOC appoints Ian Cummins Energy Projects Development Director

LOC has appointed ex-Head of Engineering at BP, Ian Cummins as its new Energy Projects Development Director. Ian will focus on the oil and gas and renewables markets, and help to identify and develop new and innovative engineering opportunities to progress the business.

Ian brings extensive major project management and engineering experience to LOC, gained from working on exceptionally large projects, significantly boosting LOC’s specialist expertise in this area. Throughout Ian’s career he has worked for an operator, contractor and engineering firm in a number of international locations leading and delivering engineering, projects and technology. Through driving industry wide collaboration and standardisation initiatives in oil & gas, Ian has contributed to the sharp reduction in costs. As the scale of offshore wind projects increases, learnings from the cost reductions in the oil & gas sector can make a significant impact on offshore renewables projects.

“Ian’s track record and the depth and breadth of his expertise in developing large-scale offshore energy projects speaks for itself, and we’re delighted to welcome him to LOC,” said RV Ahilan, Joint CEO at LOC Group and Group Director of LOC Renewables.

“With the scale of offshore turbines and wind farms continuing to grow exponentially, transferring the skills and experience gained in the oil and gas industries will be invaluable to maintaining this rapid pace of development and meeting the challenges this growth presents. Ian’s longstanding experience will be a great asset to our clients undertaking significant projects in both sectors.”

Ian Cummins, Energy Projects Development Director added; “I am excited to join LOC working with highly talented, specialist engineers. I look forward to utilising my wide ranging management and technical experience in oil and gas to progress innovation in this sector and further expand LOC’s offering into the renewables market.”
