Assessing DP vessel reliability in mitigating offshore operation risks

Sen Abhayasinghe, LOC’s Group Technical Authority DP Services has written an article for the Offshore Support Journal on assessing DP vessel reliability in mitigating risks for offshore operations.

Using dynamically positioned (DP) vessels in offshore operations has increased significantly over recent years because of the benefits they offer. These operations include deepwater drilling, deepsea construction, pipelay operations, diving and ROV operations, and platform support operations.

The benefits of DP vessels compared to anchored vessels include flexibility and agility, greater suitability for deepsea operations and mitigated risks in damaging seabed infrastructure such as pipes and subsea cables.
