Paul Whyte

Master Mariner
Paul joined LOC in 2012 and as a Master Mariner and Associate with 37 years’ seagoing experience and 12 years’ sea command.  His practical and theoretical knowledge of ship handling, bridge resource management, regulations for preventing collisions at sea and bridge navigation systems compliments his experience with both traditional and electronic ‘paperless’ navigation.  Paul’s expertise in analysis of accidents/incidents using all forms of electronic data has proved invaluable in assessing collisions, allisions and groundings, as well as determining berth occupancy in port disruption claims.  He has conducted navigation audits and prepared expert reports for groundings, ice damage, accident investigation, speed and performance disputes, salvage dangers, fixed object damage and unsafe port claims.  Paul is an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute and Royal Navy qualified Specialist Navigator, and Member of the British Empire.
