Drew Shannon

Master Mariner
Drew joined LOC in 2014 as a Class 1 Master Mariner and Operations Manager based in Sydney.  He specialises in marine casualty investigations including groundings, stranding, collisions, total losses and sinking’s.  Drew is appointed to the Lloyd’s panel of SCR’s. Drew has undertaken support roles for ETV and towage operators. These roles have included conducting drills and training, as well as, developing safety management systems, emergency response plans, risk assessments and studies for both authorities and operators. Drew has 13 years sea going experience on tankers (oil, products and LPG), bulk carriers, container vessels, dive support and AHTS, including command on tugs for barging and pipelay operations.  He spent ten years working for an international salvor as a Salvage Master, Fleet Operations and then as General Manager overseeing high profile marine casualties such as PASHA BULKER, SHENG NENG 1, WEST ATLAS and RENA.  Drew possesses experience in offshore decommissioning and ship management from his time as General Manager of Sydney Harbour ferries. He has also provided expert opinion for arbitration and court hearings.
